Dear Planning Officer,

I am writing in support of the planning application for a hotel extension at 89 Westminster Bridge Road, Waterloo (26/00026/FUL).

As a local business, I welcome this development and the economic benefits it will bring to the area. A new 48-bedroom hotel extension will bring a significant increase in visitors to Waterloo and the Southbank — visitors who will spend money in local shops, cafes, restaurants and businesses like mine.

The scheme will create around 19 new jobs directly, with further employment supported through construction and the increased footfall that short-stay accommodation generates. More workers and visitors in the area means more customers for local businesses.

The plans also include a community space available for rent-free hire by local groups, and a new landscaped garden open to the public — making this part of Waterloo a more attractive destination for visitors and residents alike, which can only be good for local trade.

The site is brownfield land and is well served by excellent public transport links including Waterloo station, making it an ideal location for this type of development.
